National Poetry Day 2019

Celebrate National Poetry Day with us at Oundle Library
Article text
National Poetry Day is marking its 25th anniversary this year with thousands of poetry events across the UK – and there’s one at Oundle Library too.

We’d love it if you’d join us at the library on Saturday, 5th October @ 2.30pm for poetry readings. Our readers from the Oundle U3A Poetry Reading Group will take the lead, but we’re also hoping for lots of audience participation. If you’d like to read a poem you love – or maybe a poem you’ve written – please just tell one of the organisers when you arrive. The afternoon is about sharing a love of poetry… so whatever your age, be brave and share a poem with us!

The theme for this year’s National Poetry Day is Truth and the celebrations for the 25th anniversary will be pretty special. As well as podcasts and readings on radio and television, there are poetry competitions and new poetry books being published. There’s even a new Children’s Poetry Archive website where you can read poems or just listen to them. You can find out more about National Poetry Day here.

And with all this happening, don’t forget to join us at Oundle Library on Saturday, 5th October for some poetry fun. All ages are welcome at the event, which is free to attend. And there will be refreshments too.
